This was written for a good friend who’s currently going through some stuff.
Here you stand
At the mouth of the cave
At the precipice
For something unknown, unnamed
Something just past your reach
Far away, in the horizon beyond
Churning sea meets expansive sky
Urging you to jump
Behind you lies the darkness
Tender, encompassing darkness
Calling you back to its depths
And here you stand
At the edge of the darkness
In the place between asleep and awake
What would happen if you jumped?
Fly, sweet creature
Spread your tattered wings
The peace you seek
Doesn’t exist in darkness
Not in safety
Not for you
Only through falling
Through a trembling, shimmering sky
Through the pounding of your heart
Will you find what you’re looking for
Tattered wings trembling
Falling, then rising again
Yes, this sweet ecstasy!
Yes, this rapturous delight!
This is what you were searching for
And all you have to do is jump.
