M’kay, so obviously, this is a ballad, and the second of my Poetry Challenge thingy.
Anywhoo.. a ballad is a narrative poem about pretty much whatever the hell you want. It consists of four-line stanzas and usually a refrain. It’s written in alternating lines of iambic tetrameter and iambic trimeter, with the second and fourth line of each stanza rhyming.
Refrain
A cherished gift of love and pain
That world in which you seek
Those gently rolling hills beyond
You yearn to reach their peak
(I)
This peace is what I offer you
The chance to fly, be free
To dance, to cry, to moan, to scream
To soar aloft with me
(II)
Together floating, falling free
Then surging, upwards still
Cascading down through liquid skies
And drinking in our fill
(Refrain)
(III)
Beneath the dawning desert sky
Beneath a laughing sun
Entwined and breathless do we lie
Our destiny undone
(IV)
So ends our journey through the night
Through ardent, eager stars
Who dance and twinkle in the joy
That we have claimed as ours
(Final Refrain)
This cherished gift that we have shared
This world that we have tamed
Those distant peaks, those rolling hills
So passionately claimed
Yea and the next task is to sing it….:) That is very sweet. You guys just turn me to mush.
Aww, guys are just adorable when they’re all mushy. Glad you liked it!
I did, very much…
